Britain wants cycle-friendly cities. Here’s how we get them | Andrew Gilligan
Cycle lanes reduce pollution, improve health and are incredibly popular. But forget common sense: getting the go-ahead on new schemes is all about politicsAlmost four-fifths of people in some of Britain’s largest cities want road space taken away from cars and given to bikes, according to a new poll from Sustrans. I’m not at all surprised. Whenever we proposed the same thing in London, where I was cycling commissioner until last year, we got the same response. Related: What would the perfect cycling city look like? Related: Banning bikes from Oxford Street is a disaster for London cycling Continue reading...

Apply to join our resident-led Fire Safety Advisory Panel
As part of our new approach to resident safety, we committed to setting up a new resident led Fire Safety Panel. If you are interested in applying for one of the four resident places available, please email consultation@camden.gov.uk and describe in no more than 100 words why you would like to be on the Panel and what knowledge and experience you would bring to the role. We will be accepting applications until Friday 17 November. We would like to thank all residents who contributed to our recent consultation around the Panel’s terms of reference. We have listened to your feedback and made a number of changes to the aims and parameters of the Panel. You can read the final terms of reference by downloading the attached document.

Regent's Park

Regent's Park - not the park itself but the tube station.

Regent's Park tube station is a London Underground station near to Regent's Park, located on Marylebone Road between the two arms of Park Crescent.

The station was opened on 10 March 1906 by the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway (BS&WR); In the original parliamentary authority for the construction of the BS&WR no station was allowed at Regent's Park. Permission was granted to add it to the already partially constructed line in 1904.

Because of this same rule and unlike most of the BS&WR's other stations, Regent's Park has no surface buildings and is accessed from a subway.

The station is served by lifts - there is also a staircase which can be used and which has 96 steps.

Great Portland Street station is within easy walking distance for interchanges to the Circle and Metropolitan lines.
