Torriano School Youth Travel Ambassadors spread the clean air message
On Clean Air Day, children from Torriano School in Kentish Town are highlighting the important issue of air pollution.
To mark the day, Torriano’s Youth Travel Ambassadors campaigned among parents and highlighted the school’s anti-idling campaign, covering issues such as illegal double-parking and engine idling. They took the opportunity to share their views with Councillor Harrison on the right to be healthy. Poor air quality has a significant impact on public health and accounts for around 9,400 premature deaths in London each year, affecting the health of many more with asthma, hay fever and other conditions. John Rocque Map of Hampstead (1762).
John Rocque (c. 1709–1762) was a surveyor, cartographer, engraver, map-seller and the son of Huguenot émigrés. Roque is now mainly remembered for his maps of London. This map dates from the second edition produced in 1762. London and his other maps brought him an appointment as cartographer to the Prince of Wales in 1751. His widow continued the business after his death. The map of Hampstead covers an area stretching from the edge in the northwest of present-day Dollis Hill to Islington in the southeast.
