Joseph Neeld enclosed part of the Westbourne Common and Waste in 1821. This gave him a long, narrow estate just north of the present Marylands Road.

Sir John Neeld, his grandson, began to develop the estate which included Rundell, Goldney and Grittlestone Roads, all family names. Many of the names of other local roads derive from place names in Wiltshire, where they came from. There is another Neeld estate near Harrow with identical family names.

The Lucas map of 1869 shows that the edges of the canal and the area to the south had been developed, North of the canal, building on the Neeld estate had started at Chippenham Road and had reached Edenbrooke Road by this time. The Harrow Road start is still marked by the Neeld Arms public house, while the western limit, Fernhead Road, was once called Neeld Road.

Grenfell Tower final death toll: police say 71 lives lost as result of fire
Officers say they have recovered and identified the final two bodies from the tower and do not expect to find any moreAll the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire named so farThe Grenfell Tower fire took the lives of 71 people, police have said, after recovering what they believe to be the last of the bodies.Officers investigating the disaster said on Thursday they had identified the final two people who died as 71-year-old Victoria King and her 40-year-old daughter, Alexandra Atala. The first thing to note is that the police’s expected and confirmed death tolls were always a lot lower than much of the speculation. The shadow home secretary and others, such as the singer Lily Allen, had insisted at various times that the number must be well into the hundreds. West Kilburn

West Kilburn is the westernmost slice of London W9, centered around Fernhead Road.

West Kilburn is a rather small part of London. Bravington Road forms the boundary of West Kilburn with its neighbour to the west - the Queens Park Estate.

To the north is Queen's Park station itself. Walterton Road and Saltram Crescent forms the eastern boundary with Harrow Road to the south.

Tall 19th century houses are the predominant feature in this area. Many have now been converted to flats.

The area houses two hitherto notorious estates - the Mozart and the South Kilburn in Brent.
