Stories from survivors and victims’ families about night of the fire and life since may help prevent similar tragedies, inquiry toldThe voices of the Grenfell Tower survivors must be heard, the public inquiry has been told by those who fear they will be silenced when witnesses begin giving evidence next year.Lawyers representing those who escaped the fire, as well as the bereaved families, told the inquiry chair, Sir Martin Moore-Bick, on Monday that hearing their stories from the night of the disaster, as well as from the aftermath as they try to put their lives back together, could help prevent similar tragedies in future. Marian Harrington is the independent chair of the Chalcots review
Marian Harrington has been named as the independent chair of the Chalcots review. The first phase of the review will look at the evacuation of the Chalcots Estate in June 2017 and the emergency management, and the second phase will look more widely at the refurbishment of the buildings and their management. A Strategic Director of Adult and Community Services at Westminster City Council until 2011, Marian independently chaired three Adult Safeguarding Boards, examining safeguarding matters in Islington, Camden and Enfield until 2016. Marian Harrington, Independent Chair of the Chalcots Review, said: “I am looking forward to working with residents, Camden Council and their wider partners to learn lessons from the Chalcots evacuation and the circumstances surrounding this, which I am sure will be useful to councils across the country in the future. I am determined to ensure that the voice of residents is at the forefront of the review – and look forward to getting this process underway.” While in Westminster, Marian was responsible for the humanitarian response to a number of major incidents, working with central government on services to families affected by the 7/7 bombings. Marian has carried out reviews and independent scrutiny of adult safeguarding and emergency cover arrangements for a range of statutory agencies and private and voluntary organisations. Marian has begun work on the first phase of the review immediately by reviewing documents and evidence submitted by residents. Marian will set out further details on how she intends to hear evidence and timescales for compiling her report.

Regent's Park

Regent's Park - not the park itself but the tube station.

Regent's Park tube station is a London Underground station near to Regent's Park, located on Marylebone Road between the two arms of Park Crescent.

The station was opened on 10 March 1906 by the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway (BS&WR); In the original parliamentary authority for the construction of the BS&WR no station was allowed at Regent's Park. Permission was granted to add it to the already partially constructed line in 1904.

Because of this same rule and unlike most of the BS&WR's other stations, Regent's Park has no surface buildings and is accessed from a subway.

The station is served by lifts - there is also a staircase which can be used and which has 96 steps.

Great Portland Street station is within easy walking distance for interchanges to the Circle and Metropolitan lines.
