Edgware Road

Edgware Road station was part of the world's first underground railway when it was opened as part of the Metropolitan Railway between Paddington and Farringdon on 1 October 1863.

The main Edgware Road station now serves the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines.

A second Edgware Road station was opened on 15 June 1907 by the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway (BS&WR, now the Bakerloo line) when it extended its line from the temporary northern terminus at Marylebone. In common with other early stations of the lines owned by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London, that station was designed by architect Leslie Green with an ox-blood red glazed terracotta façade.

Portman Early Childhood Centre:   Local authority nursery school (Nursery) which accepts students between the ages of 2 and 5.
Somerset House, Park Lane:   Somerset House was an 18th-century town house on the east side of Park Lane, where it meets Oxford Street, in the Mayfair area of London. It was also known as 40 Park Lane, although a renumbering means that the site is now called 140 Park Lane.
Speakers’ Corner:   Speakers’ Corner is in the northeast corner of Hyde Park.
St Georges Fields:   St George’s Fields are a former burial ground of St George’s, Hanover Square, lying between Connaught Street and Bayswater Road.
St Mary’s Bryanston Square CofE School:   Voluntary aided school (Primary) which accepts students between the ages of 3 and 11.
The Minerva Academy:   Free schools (Primary) which accepts students between the ages of 4 and 11.

John Rocque Map of London (1762) FREE DOWNLOAD
John Rocque (c. 1709–1762) was a surveyor, cartographer, engraver, map-seller and the son of Huguenot émigrés. Roque is now mainly remembered for his maps of London. This map dates from the second edition produced in 1762. London and his other maps brought him an appointment as cartographer to the Prince of Wales in 1751. His widow continued the business after his death. The map covers central London at a reduced level of detail compared with his 1745-6 map.
