In the early hours of Tuesday morning (21 November 2017), the London Fire Brigade attended a fire at 31 Daleham Gardens in Hampstead, where a resident tragically lost their life. We are deeply saddened to hear of this fatality and we will be cooperating with the London Fire Brigade going forward with their investigations. Information for residents in Daleham Gardens Homes in 31 Daleham Gardens and all homes in the adjacent building, 31A, were evacuated. Residents from 31A have now returned to their homes. We are working with affected residents to provide temporary accommodation and other support, including meals and financial assistance, as needed. We are also working to identify long-term housing solutions for our tenants as a matter of priority. If you are concerned about a family member or friend who may have been affected or need further information from Camden, please call 020 7974 4444. The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust can provide support to residents feeling anxious following the fire. Please call 020 8938 2241, 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday to make a referral. Alternatively, support is available through iCope, you can find out more information online at icope.nhs.uk Gloucester House Day Unit Due its proximity to Daleham Gardens, Gloucester House Day Unit was closed on Tuesday and its playground will be closed for the remainder of the week. This is whilst we erect fencing to create a safe distance between the site of the fire and the playground. We will begin putting up the fencing this evening, we apologise for any noise and disruption caused, however in the interests of resident health and safety it is important we get these works underway immediately.

John Rocque Map of Hampstead (1762).
John Rocque (c. 1709–1762) was a surveyor, cartographer, engraver, map-seller and the son of Huguenot émigrés. Roque is now mainly remembered for his maps of London. This map dates from the second edition produced in 1762. London and his other maps brought him an appointment as cartographer to the Prince of Wales in 1751. His widow continued the business after his death. The map of Hampstead covers an area stretching from the edge in the northwest of present-day Dollis Hill to Islington in the southeast.
