West Finchley is a station on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line.

It cannot be denied that West Finchley has a bit of an image problem. For a start it is actually northeast of Finchley Central and next door to North Finchley. Which means that few people know where it is.

This suits the residents of a close-knit slice of typical North London suburbia.

West Finchley benefits from being near to several shopping areas, including Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury?s superstores. There is a large entertainment complex on the High Road with an eight screen cinema, bowling alley, David Lloyd Tennis and Leisure Club, lido, bar and five restaurants. Sporting facilities include clubs for rugby with a leading junior club, tennis and squash. Finchley and Hendon Golf Clubs lie less than a mile away and there are several play and recreation areas with way-marked walks. Finchley Arts Centre opened in 2004 and caters for performing and visual arts.

The Underground Map

The Underground Map is a website dedicated to some of the more obscure pieces of London Town (as well as some of the more well-known places).

The Underground Map project is creating a decade-by-decade series of historical maps of the area which lies within London's M25 ring.

From the 1800s until the 1950s, you can see how London grew from a city which only reached as far as Park Lane into the post war megapolis we know today.

Find the streets of London by clicking STREETS above or explore the maps by clicking MAP.

The Underground Map works best if you log in using Facebook.
