Alvanley Gardens was named after a resident of Frognal Hall.

Alvanley Garden got its name in 1914 after Richard Pepper (1745-1804), 1st Baron Alvanley. He was Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas and lived at Frognal Hall.

His title Alvanley derives from his family’s seat in Cheshire.
