Audley Road was built along the line of a former footpath.
The area was part of an estate of agricultural land owned by the Neeld family. By 1914 small houses were spreading up the hill towards The Burroughs and the Neeld family decided to built Audley Road, named after Sir Audley Dallas Neeld.
