Bennet Street lies off St James’s Street.

King Charles II gave an area of land on the corner of St James’s Street and Piccadilly to Henry Bennett, Earl of Arlington.

He leased it to a builder called Pym who erected houses of poor quality that were soon demolished. After than Arlington Street and Bennet Street were soon fashionable addresses. By the end of the 17th century all land on either side of St James’s Street had been built upon.
