Brookdale Road was largely built by developer James Watt.
James Watt as a contractor built up to a third of the houses on Archibald Cameron Corbett St German’s Estate. However Watt was already active locally on his own account before the involvement with Corbett. Some of the houses in Brookdale Road, Scrooby Street, Barmeston Road, and Aitkin Road were Watt’s.
