Cambridge Crescent, E2
Cambridge Heath
Cambridge Crescent received its name by being originally part of the Cambridge Heath Estate.

In 1807 the Leeds family agreed with Joseph Brown from Durham Place to develop their Cambridge Heath Estate.

In 1808 Brown engaged James Waddilove and William Causdell to build 30 houses. They were employed at the same time on Parmiter’s estate, with which a joint layout was apparently made.

By 1812 Cambridge Circus had been laid out on the eastern boundary of the Cambridge Heath estate. It originally ran to Old Bethnal Green Road.

Much later, in 1938, Cambridge Circus changed its name to Cambridge Crescent. Around 1946, the local area was redeveloped and the link to Old Bethnal Green Road disappeared.
