Chepstow Place, W2
The Central line platforms at Notting Hill Gate were opened on 30 July 1900 by the Central London Railway.

There were no deep-level tube lines anywhere a long way to the north during the Second World War. Therefore the platforms became a notable shelter during the London Blitz for the residents of Notting Hill and North Kensington.

Chepstow Place runs from the junction of Westbourne Grove and Pembridge Villas in the north to Pembridge Square in the south.

The street was developed by William Henry Jenkins and William Kinnaird Jenkins, who leased land on the Ladbroke Estate.

In 1844, an application to lay sewers in Chepstow Place was presented to the Westminster Commissioners.

The origins of the Jenkins family is reflected in the many Herefordshire and Welsh names used in local streets - Chepstow, Pembridge, Ledbury and Denbigh.
