Hoop Lane was originally called Wheel Lane.
The road inherited the name of a pub which used to lie on its corner.
At Golders Green, simply a straggling hamlet in 1901, new houses were built at the corner of Wentworth Road and Hoop Lane in 1905. This anticipated a huge growth over the next decade.
