Burnt Oak was a suburb which went up suddenly in 1924.

This photo depicts Burnt Oak's underground station platform on the Hampstead and Highgate line (now the Northern line).

Beyond the railway line a new housing estate is under construction, part of the Watling Estate built by the LCC. In the foreground a narrow footpath cuts across open fields.
