Lorton House dates from the first development of the Kilburn Vale Estate.
During 1947, the London County Council announced a scheme for 104 flats in Kilburn Vale. The building of this new estate involved the demolition of some of the earliest buildings in the area - found in both Abbey Lane and Kilburn Vale. The estate was opened in 1951.
