Station Road led from the centre of Hendon village to its first station and to the Edgware Road.

It had been Burroughs Lane before it took its current name.

Burroughs Lane was the only road with such a name in Middlesex. To stop confusing postmen and postwoman, after the First World War, duplicate road names all over the metropolitan area were renamed. Burroughs Lane is an example of a road going the wrong way with a unique name becoming a generic one.
