Verdant Lane was developed in both 1910 and the early 1930s.
While Hither Green Lane came this way, the part south of Brownhill Road was renamed Verdant Lane in 1907, just as its green credentials were being destroyed by James Watt and other builders.
The west side of Verdant Lane had been developed by Cameron Corbett as part of the development of North Park Farm.
The Verdant Lane estate - originally aimed towards the ’skilled working class’ consisted of houses on the eastern side of Verdant Lane along with South Park Crescent, Further Green Lane, Pasture Road and Sedgeway.
