The 1900 map pf the area shows a small street linking a street called Heriot Place with Oak Village. After the post-war reconstruction, Elaine Grove was routed over the course of Heriot Place and beyond.
Originally Elaine Grove was known as Arthur Grove. In a clever renaming, Elaine was a character in Arthurian legend.
