Watch Tower House was built on the site of Bittacy House.

Bittacy House and its farm were the main estates in Mill Hill until the 1860s. Located midway down Bittacy Hill across from Saunders Lane, the farm continued operating until 1908. Development began in the 1860s, starting the area’s transition from rural farmland.

Bittacy House was demolished in 1950 and replaced by Watchtower House in 1955, which formally opened in 1958 as the new headquarters of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Here, their Awake and Watchtower magazines are produced in 25 languages for 55 countries. In 2002, 120 million issues were produced, making Watchtower House a major global publication hub.
