Ilchester Gardens, W2
The Central line platforms at Notting Hill Gate were opened on 30 July 1900 by the Central London Railway.

There were no deep-level tube lines anywhere a long way to the north during the Second World War. Therefore the platforms became a notable shelter during the London Blitz for the residents of Notting Hill and North Kensington.

Ilchester Gardens was constructed during the mid-19th century.

The majority of the buildings in Ilchester Gardens were erected during the Victorian era, specifically between the 1840s and 1870s. This period corresponds to the time when Bayswater experienced significant development and expansion, resulting in the creation of many of its distinctive Victorian townhouses and residential streets.
