Livingstone Road was built from 1864 onwards.

David Livingstone (1813-73), explorer and missionary in Africa, was one of a group of ‘explorer’ names in the development.

The subsidiary names of Park Terrace and Livingstone Cottages were abolished in 1893. Collingwood Terrace was abolished in 1881.

Livingstone Walk was established in 1965 when the local area was redeveloped as the Winstanley Estate.
