New Street existed until 1868.
The east side of New Street was part of Colman Hedge Close, with the first houses likely erected between 1695 and 1705. In 1721, a house in New Street became a parish infirmary for sick and impotent paupers and remained in operation until 1748.
In 1868, New Street and Husband Street were collectively renamed Ingestre Place after a block of artisans’ dwellings known as Ingestre Buildings.
