Martlett Court appears on maps from the 1750s onwards.

Martlett Court was slightly realigned and extended in 1899.

Three red brick blocks - Fletcher Buildings, Beaumont Buildings and Sheridan Buildings - were then developed on Marlett Court by the London County Council in 1899/1900, using land sold by the eleventh Duke of Bedford. The estate consists of 125 flats, featuring common courtyards and a landscaped communal garden.

On the corner of Bow Street stood the original police station of London.
