Connaught Bridge, E16
Connaught Bridge from the air (2019)

The rotating bridge carries the A1020 road over the link between Victoria Dock (on left) and Albert Dock. There is a separate rotating bridge (on the left) for pedestrians and cyclists.

The bridge control cabin can be seen near the top of the tower in the central reservation, above the near bank.

The Docklands Light Railway (between Prince Regent and Royal Albert stations) can be seen in the background.

The Connaught Bridge located within the Royal Victoria Docks between Custom House and Silvertown.

The original Connaught swing bridge was built in 1904 and at this time the bridge carried both the Connaught Road access and North Woolwich Railway across the channel between the Royal Albert and Royal Victoria Docks.

The present Connaught Road Bridge - a cable stayed swing bridge with reinforced concrete approach viaducts - carries a two-lane dual carriageway road over a narrow stretch of the docks. It runs parallel to the smaller Connaught Footbridge adjacent directly to the west.
