Handforth Road is a curved road between Clapham Road and Brixton Road.

In 1870, John Wright was owner of the land and disposed of it in two parts. The northern part, between Prima Road and Handforth Road, was sold to a civil engineer, Philip Edward Sewell. The southern portion was acquired by Robert and Isaac Crewdson - Handforth Road and Crewdson Road were subsequently laid out across it.
