Cranmer Court, one of the largest blocks of flats in London, was built 1934-5.

Cranmer Court covers most of the block bounded by Sloane Avenue, Whitehead’s Grove, Elystan Street and Francis Street (later renamed Petyward), with its main frontage facing south in Whitehead’s Grove with two open quadrangles.

The buildings were nine storeys high with a row of shops on the Sloane Avenue side which extended through to the first quadrangle.
