Brook Drive - Brook Street until 1937 - runs along the boundary between the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.
The River Neckinger rose in the seasonally wet and occasionally flooded areas at St George’s Fields, which are now known as Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park. The river followed the course of Brook Drive and passed by the Elephant and Castle area in its path. This gave its name to the street.
In 1982, Brook Drive (the corner of Hayle Street) was used to film the video to the hit, Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. It’s no longer a shop.
