Milson Road, W14 Added: 17 May 2023 11:50 GMT	Milson Road (1908 - 1954) My grandparents and great grandparents and great great grandparents the Manley family lived at 33 Milson Road from 1908 to 1935. My grandad was born at 33 Milson Road. His parents George and Grace had all four of their chidren there. When his father Edward died his mother moved to 67 Milson in 1935 Road and lived there until 1954 (records found so far, it may be longer). Before that they lived in the Porten Road. I wonder if there is anyone that used to know them? My grandad was Charles ’Ted’ Manley, his parents were called George and Grace and George’s parents were called Edward and Bessie. George worked in a garage and Edward was a hairdresser. Reply

The house belonged to my grandfather James Grosvenor who bought it in the 1920s for £200.I had a brother who lived in property until 1956 when he married. Heron Quays

Heron Quays forms part of the Canary Wharf area the Docklands, east London. It has a Docklands Light Railway station, which was moved south after the development was expanded.

Heron Quays was originally an area of dockside and warehousing which separated South Dock and Middle (Export) Dock of the West India Docks, completed in 1802. By the 1970s the area was derelict.

The Heron Quays area was one of the first areas of The Isle of Dogs redeveloped. The western half of the site was redeveloped into low-rise commercial/office units in the mid 1980s.

On 27 June 1982, Captain Harry Gee landed a De Havilland Canada Dash 7 aircraft on Heron Quay to demonstrate the feasibility of the STOLport project - the forerunner to the London City Airport project.

Heron Quays DLR station opened in 1987.

Alpha Grove ran right through to the West India Dock fence dock - its cranes can be seen at the end of the road.
