Jubilee Street was built off the then-new Commercial Road and named to commemorate the Jubilee of George III in 1810.
The road traces the route of an old field path. The building now housing a funeral directors at the Stepney Way junction was formerly the Mercer’s Alms public house until its closure in 1915.
Its northern end was redeveloped after the Second World War - Jubilee Street originally ran all the way to Mile End Road.
