The Earl Derby referred to Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby who fought at the battle of Bosworth. The pub stood in Bosworth Road.

The Earl Derby was long marooned as the houses around it were demolished.

The Earl Derby was renamed as Retro, circa 2011 but is no longer a pub.
