Brook Road is one of the main arteries in the northern part of Borehamwood.
It was laid out in the early 1950s being named after Tykes Water which runs alongside the road. Aberford Park to the west of Brook Road now contains the culverted stream and a lake formed from it.
Until the turn of the 1970s, the southern end of Brook Road fizzled out with the parallel Eldon Avenue continuing as the main road south. The local council built a roundabout to improve the interchange between Shenley Road and Elstree Way and took the opportunity to extend Brook Road to the roundabout.
