Cornwall Grove is the middle of five groves with names beginning A to E.
The area between Devonshire Road and Chiswick Lane was developed on a field between 1891 to 1901, becoming known as the ABC estate due to its alphabetically named streets: Ashbourne Grove, Balfern Grove, Cornwall Grove, Dorchester Grove and Eastbury Grove. The development comprised 327 houses, with four-fifths designed as multi-occupancy tenements to accommodate two or more families.
