The origins of the Seymour Road name are not clear.
Sir William Seymour was 2nd Duke of Somerset, (1588 – 1660) and a royalist general. There was Admiral Frederick Seymour, 1st Baron Alcester, (1821 – 1895), Crimean, Maori and Anglo-Egyptian wars. It could have been named after Admiral Sir Michael Seymour (1802 – 1887) from the Crimean and second Opium war. Lastly there was Admiral of the Fleet Sir Edward Hobart Seymour (1840–1929), from the Crimean war and Boxer rebellion.
Maybe it was another Seymour altogether.
