Woodsyre is a modern development off Sydenham Hill.
Woodsyre first appears, in a reference to "the lord’s land at Wodeshere", in 1335. The 44 acres Woodsyre holding came under Bermondsey Abbey’s demesne lands and largely consisted of Dulwich Court Farm on either side of Court Lane.
Woodsyre became subdivided into a number of parcels: Woodsire Grove, Great Woodsires and two subparcels called Little Woodsires. The 14 acres straddling East Dulwich Grove, was leased with a house called Lyndenhurst. After 1719 the leases cease to refer to Little Woodsires by name.
