Australian Avenue ran north out of The Crescent (Jewin Crescent) to the road formerly known as Barbican (now Beech Street)
Australian Avenue, in Cripplegate Ward Without, replaced Fig Tree Court, Trafalgar Place and Young’s Buildings - all formerly on its site. It was laid out at some point during the 1890s.
It was almost completely destroyed during the Blitz and then redeveloped as part of the Barbican Centre in the early 1960s.
An aim of the Underground Map project is to find the location every street in London, whether past or present, and tell its story. |
