Richard Cobden (1804 - 1865) was a Radical and Liberal politician, manufacturer, and a campaigner for free trade and peace. He was associated with the Anti-Corn Law League and the Cobdenï¿½"Chevalier Treaty.

In 1866, the Cobden Club was founded to promote 'Peace, Free Trade and Goodwill Among Nations'.
