The Churchill Arms was built in about 1824.
It was originally known as the Bedford Arms, but adopted its present name soon after it opened - possibly as a contraction of Church Hill but also possibly after John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough whose greatest victory is commemorated a mile north in the name of Blenheim Crescent.
The decor features collections of chamber pots, pot plants, butterflies and depictions of Winston Churchill, who the pub was not named after.
