Blue Ball Yard, SW1A
Carlton House Terrace
Blue Ball Yard is first mentioned in 1672 when its site was sold by King Charles II.

By the 1670s, it was already stables and housing for the servants working in St James Palace. It may have acquired its name after the nearby Blue Ball Tavern that was demolished in the 18th century.

Blue Ball Yard has one of London’s last remaining gas lamps.
