Fleur de Lis Street was laid out in the 1720s as part of the St John and Tillard Estate.
Fleur de Lis Street’s name reflects when this part of Spitalfields was filled with French Huguenot émigrés, who fled after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The first records of the neighbouring streets date to May 1724, so Fleur de Lis Street likely originated then too.
It is losing its remaining historic character, giving way to modern towers.
