John Rocque map of Richmond and surroundings (1750s)

John Rocque was one of the most remarkable and dedicated cartographers ever to map London.

Working in the mid eighteenth century, his dedication to the task was impressive, mapping most of Middlesex and parts of Surrey, Kent and Essex down to field level. In central London, he took detail to a new level.
