Poyle - the forgotten village of Middlesex

In a land beyond the M25 and the anonymous environs west of Heathrow Airport, lies Poyle. Sometimes you might spot a signpost to it while traversing the area near to Terminal 5.

Poyle used to be the westernmost village in Middlesex. But Poyle was transferred to Surrey in 1965 and to Berkshire in 1995. It's now classed as part of the borough of Slough. Whereas certain folk in other areas historically in Middlesex proudly mark their envelopes 'Middx' at the bottom, Poyleans have long got used to their changing countyscape.

Due to its proximity to Heathrow airport Poyle lies under the flight path of many departing/arriving routes. Poyle Residents Association have long campaigned for restrictions on night flights from Heathrow airport.
