Featherstone Gardens runs from Kenilworth Drive to Arundel Drive.

Like the two roads it connects, Featherstone Gardens was laid out in the late 1930s and is named after a castle.

Its namesake, Featherstone Castle, is a Grade I listed building and a large Gothic style country mansion situated on the bank of the River South Tyne about 3 miles southwest of the town of Haltwhistle, Northumberland.

MGM Borehamwood was first built on a rural site. Amalgamated Studios Ltd had constructed a large studio on the north side of Elstree Way, Borehamwood, between 1935 and 1937. MGM-London purchased the former Amalgamated Studios in April 1944 and changed its name to MGM British Studios Ltd. Films made at the MGM-British Studios included Ivanhoe (1952), Anastasia (1956), The Inn of the Sixth Happiness (1958), The Dirty Dozen (1967), The Prisoner TV series (1967–68) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).

MGM-British studios, Borehamwood on 2 May 1966 This was a major centre for UK film production. Alongside the 1966 sets depicted on the backlot, the late 1960s alone saw Kubrick’s ’2001: A Space Odyssey’ and TV series ’The Prisoner’ (when not in Portmerion) based there With MGM built over by a 1970s housing estate, the movie industry continues with the 2022-built Sky Studios Elstree (which is in Borehamwood, not Elstree) which is now just to the right of the greenhouses on the 1966 image.
