The 1965 reform of Greater London swept away a whole part of Hertfordshire containing Totteridge, High, East and Chipping Barnet, Osodge and part of Southgate was swept away to become just part of the new London Borough of Barnet. If the date of the photo is correct, people were preparing rather early. There do not appear to be any blackout deflectors on the headlamps so presumably before 1939 - certainly before 1941 when Wood Green would have been subsumed into the National Fire Service. After the war, Wood Green became part of the Middlesex Fire Service and then part of the London Fire Brigade under the Greater London Council in 1965 when the borough became part of the London Borough of Haringey.
