Farmer George King retired from running Bullbaiter’s Farm on 25 March 1905. The farm was the property of the Earl of Strafford of Wrotham Park, South Mimms. MGM Borehamwood was first built on a rural site. Amalgamated Studios Ltd had constructed a large studio on the north side of Elstree Way, Borehamwood, between 1935 and 1937. MGM-London purchased the former Amalgamated Studios in April 1944 and changed its name to MGM British Studios Ltd. Films made at the MGM-British Studios included Ivanhoe (1952), Anastasia (1956), The Inn of the Sixth Happiness (1958), The Dirty Dozen (1967), The Prisoner TV series (1967–68) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).
