Allenby Road - originally called Muddy Lane - served the early settlement of Northcott.
An 1754 map showed Northcott as the name of a settlement north of Uxbridge Road, around North Road and opposite South Road. Southall comprised houses on the main road’s south side. A large, unnamed settlement surrounded Southall Green.
Norwood Road from there led to Norwood, which clustered around Norwood Green and along Tentelow Lane’s south side. North Road, Dormer’s Wells Lane and Allenby Road were already established at this time.
This website does not sell maps. Instead it offers a subscription service via Substack. Paid Substack subscribers can get old maps/satellite views in printable A2 PDF format. Though we will not be printing or framing ourselves, you'll be able to take your map to your local print shop/picture framer and let them produce the magic. |
