Jersey Road was originally called Scrattage Lane.
The Earls of Jersey were the Child Villiers family. The 9th Earl of Jersey made Osterley House accessible to the public in 1939. This decision came in response to numerous requests from people eager to explore the house’s historic interior. The Earl explained his choice by noting that he did not reside there and many others wished to view it.
A new drive from Jersey Road up to Osterley House was created around the time of the District Railway’s construction in the late 19th century.
