Rasper Road dates from the 1870s.
The Finchley Common enclosure map of 1811 showed that a field called The Mead was being used for growing grass and hay. It was owned in 1841 by William Bass, who was a blacksmith and had a forge behind the Three Horseshoes pub. He would have used the field for his horse.
The 1871 Ordnance Survey map shows Rasper Road, Green Road and Sherwood Street all existing.
