Stonhouse Street began its life as Wirtemberg Street.
Wirtemberg Street was renamed to Stonhouse Street in 1919.
It originally ran to Larkhall Rise but the northern section was almost obliterated during the Blitz. Post-war planners took the opportunity to renew the streetscape and while the southern section of Stonhouse Street remained in place, part of the line of the original street became Hickmore Walk, Belmont Close and part of Cubitt Terrace.
