Stoneyfields Gardens is a 1920s development.
North and west of the then-new Watling estate the remaining farmland was slowly covered by private semi-detached houses in the 1920s and 1930s. Building was stimulated not only by the arrival of the Underground but also by the opening of Watford Way and the Barnet and Edgware by-pass roads in 1927.
The Stoneyfields estate, north of the Hale, was sold for building in 1924
